The Green Loch Aviemore is located deep within the Glenmore Forest in the Cairngorms National Park. The extraordinarily deep and brilliant turquoise colour of this lake inspired its name. The green is supposed to be a result of algae in the water. Rather than having a stream in and out, it looks to be a bowl where water has gathered.

To get to the Green Loch Aviemore Walk starting point using public transport, you can take bus M10/M90 from Inverness to Aviemore, and then catch the 37 bus to the Glenmore Forest Park Visitor Centre. However, this can take a lot of time and driving is faster. You can find free parking near the Forest Visitor Centre.

A lovely walk through the snow to get to the green loch. A fairly easy well signposted walk from the glenmore visitor centre. An easy,quick bus ride from Aviemore train station to get there. Easily one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited,would highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

The "Green Loch", as we'll forever know it, is a bit of a long walk- from Glenmore Lodge- for younger children but it is an extremely beautiful and peaceful destination.
